The St. Louis County Department of Transportation and Public Works has issued an update to the “Design Criteria for the Preparation of Improvement Plans”. Updates and revisions to the manual include an overhaul of values in the “Schedule of Unit Prices for Establishment of Escrows and Bonds”, several revisions to Chapter 5 – Traffic Signals, and guidance concerning marked crosswalks and Accessible Pedestrian Signal volumes in Chapter 10. Published September 30, 2025, the manual has an Effective Date of January 1, 2026.

Are you interested in an Engineering career that spans the full range of a project from planning and design through construction? Do you enjoy problem solving and making positive impacts within the community you work? Does a job which involves a wide variety of both office and field work sound interesting? If so, don’t hesitate to submit a job application to the City of Mexico for a Civil Engineer position within the Public Works Department. Job responsibilities include planning, design (survey/CAD), and construction inspection for projects in the transportation, stormwater, and wastewater fields. Work will also consist of asset management, Geographic Information System (GIS) management, traffic studies, and more. Applicants holding a P.E. and having experience in the Civil Engineering field are preferred. Recent graduates from an ABET accredited university holding a B.S. in an Engineering field will also be considered and are encouraged to apply. The expected salary for this position is $80,000 and will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience.
