Public Works Director/City Engineer

The Director of Public Works/City Engineer manages the City’s public works operations, infrastructure systems, and engineering functions. Responsibilities include oversight of street and facility maintenance, stormwater programs, capital projects, fleet service operations, and right-of-way permitting. The position supervises a team of three public works employees, works closely with consultants, administers grant-funded projects, and ensures effective service delivery and regulatory compliance under the direction of the City Administrator.

This position will focus primarily on roadway design projects for the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and Local Public Agencies (LPAs).

The successful candidate will have 3-7 years of experience and a strong interest in technically detailed design work. This role requires regular interaction with clients, consultants, contractors, utilities, and public agencies, as well as the ability to resolve design challenges that may involve field investigations.
